Low temperature bonding of PMMA and COC microfluidic substrates using UV/ozone surface treatment.
The use of UV/ozone surface treatments for achieving low temperature bonds between PMMA and COC microfluidic substrates is evaluated. Low temperature bond strengths, approaching those of native polymer substrates bonded above their glass transition temperatures, are demonstrated for both thermoplastics. To evaluate the effects of the UV/O(3) surface treatment on the operation of bonded microflu...
متن کاملReconfigurable diffraction gratings based on elastomeric microfluidic devices
This paper describes the fabrication and operating principles of a reconfigurable diffraction grating based on a microfluidic device. Ž . The device consists of an array of microscopic channels 50 mm wide and 20 mm deep defined by the conformal contact between a transparent elastomeric material that has an embossed surface relief and a flat glass substrate. The microchannels can be filled rever...
متن کاملAdhesive-based bonding technique for PDMS microfluidic devices.
We present a simple and inexpensive technique for bonding PDMS microfluidic devices. The technique uses only adhesive tape and an oven; plasma bonders and cleanroom facilities are not required. It also produces channels that are immediately hydrophobic, allowing formation of aqueous-in-oil emulsions.
متن کاملScalable Integration of Elastomeric Components for Self-Regulating Microfluidic Devices
One main research focus in microfluidics has been enhancing both the use and capabilities of devices through development of control systems 1 . Typically these systems achieve dynamic on-chip fluid regulation by utilizing computerized external actuators which directly valve and pump fluids in the device 4,5 . Although these systems provide immensely versatile microfluidic control, their externa...
